Season 3, Episode 6: Snowbeast Slaughter | Originally Aired on March 11, 2009
High in the rugged wilderness of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains a large hairy creature is said to be preying on the elk and frightening residents. The stories date back centuries with the earliest settlers describing terrifying encounters with a large beast whose scream bellows across the hills. Even today ranchers and hikers report a monster they can’t explain that may be attacking their horses. MonsterQuest will sift through the evidence and determine what may be killing the elk. The aerial search ascends to 11,000 ft in search of fresh evidence that could lead to the creature; as the ground team scales the side of Pikes Peak to hunt for the legendary Snowbeast.

So my roommate and I were ditching a day of classes to go to the rocky mountain national park. Us, being vet techs thought we seen a big black dog run down a ravine. So, leashes always handy we left my truck and went in search of the “lost dog” we seen it run across the creek and it was carrying something in its mouth. We weren’t sure where it was going or if its owner was hurt. We searched for an hour plus and found nothing.. but elk parts. We found a leg, an antler and then the whole veterbral column and lots of fur. The grass was matted down like there was a struggle but there was NO BLOOD WHATSOEVER! We were freaked and left immediately! While running we found some caves and seen tracks right near one of the signs for roosevelet national forest. We’ve yet to go back! A month or so later we seen the episode snow beast slaughter. My roomie and I just looked at each other in horror! Our “dog” was a big black “dog” with a docked tail running swiftly over rocks, ice, snow and the river. We weren’t able to keep up and thankfully we couldn’t! We might not be alive today.
